This is one of those images that came to mind pretty much fully formed, or within a matter of minutes at any rate. The wordplay had come to mind first, after my wife had given me a little chore to do one evening. I remember joking around and I started humming the classic two note Jaws theme, as if it were the ominous audio precursor to a menial task that must imminently be performed. Then of course you can’t think of Jaws without thinking of that iconic poster, and a few moments later I realised that the shape of an iron would be the perfect replacement for the shark. After that, I just needed to find some time to create it, and although it took me a few months, I finally got round to it this week. Here it is…
I first revealed it on Tumblr, and have been pleasantly surprised how much coverage it’s received, with tweets by folks like Empire Magazine and HeyUGuys certainly helping to spread the word.
I’ve also made the illustration available as a print over at my store, along with various other products such as tees, hoodies, iPhone cases, iPhone and iPod skins, greetings cards and tote bags.
